Mr. B. L. Bingham, of this city, yesterday received a telegram from his brother at SmithReld, .that their mother, Mrs. Cassandra Bing ham, had dropped dead at the hour of 10 o'clock, a. m. Mrs. Bingham had been a consistent member of the Methodist Church for 33 years, and was in her 63d year. She leaves five children. Funeral by Rev. Dr. Poole, at the old homestead. - Mr. B. L. The Fire Company Yesterday. The Greensboro Fire Company turned out in handsome style yester day evening, and with the new en gine and hose made a display highly creditable, exceeding their last record by seven minutes in getting up steam. When the display was over the Presi dent of the Company, Mr. Chas. D. Benbow,' invited the men to an ele gant oyster supper, which was spread in the ball over the engine house, and was partaken of with zest. The zeal and energy which the company now display will insure to the city the highest efficiency in a very necessary field pf public concern. Jambs r!
